2012 fic round up

Desk buddies
Not that there was much fic to round up. Wow. I did NOT write much this year. That makes me sad, it really does, but the guilt's leveled off. I wish I had time for more writing but the kids are getting bigger and their needs much more complicated.

Christmas was a good, low key and over with quickly. My brother married his girlfriend a few days ago so I'm ringing in the New Year with a new sister-in-law. She's pretty damned awesome, self made, motivated, considerate and practical. Completely the opposite of my brother's ex-wife.

Last night I celebrated NYE solo (hubby stayed home with the kids and a cold) with my brother and his wife at her cousin's house. It was great, a little bit more drunken than I would have liked, but very enjoyable. It's just too bad I'm as old as I am and was ready for bed at 10 pm, or it would have been better. :)

Have yet to take down the tree. *sigh*

I could make a New Year's resolution to attempt two fics of indeterminate length and quality a month...but I'd be jinxing myself.

Yay for great SiL's :-) And yes, kids suck up a lot of time and I always thought as they moved out of toddlerhood that it'd get better, but then they are just doing more things that take more time, lolol. And the guilt! Play a board game with whiny child when said game would just make her day or write? :sigh: I've read the Steph Meyers interviews where she's all, 'took care of the kids all day and then fed them and handed them to hubby and drove to an office I rented and wrote all night' Yadda, yadda  THAT would SO not work for my hubby- he LIKES me and I like him enough to not have socked the kids on him the second he walked in the day from work, lololol. of course, I guess the Meyers could now retire together and neither of them work, but... meh. lololol. :rantingrandomlytoday:

Did you figure out a fic to share? I agree with your other commenter that Persephone is for someone fairly invested in the fandom :-)

yeah, that'd be nice if I had extra cash lying around to rent office space. But even if I did, I couldn't leave the house every night like that, that wouldn't be fair to my husband - especially if he worked and I didn't. Couldn't she have written while they were at school?

Ugh. You know what? Why am I even asking? It's SMeyers. The usual logic does not apply. LOL

But actually, in the end, she's got the wealth and I don't, so I guess I shouldn't knock her too much. I'll stick to knocking her idea of vampires, love, and what constitutes an interesting character. :)

Yeah, kids' needs just get more complicated the older they get. Then you deal with insecurities and emerging hormones and their constant need for reassurance and love. I think the niggling idea that you aren't doing enough for your kids is pretty common among mothers, but it's especially true with me. Any time I spend writing seems to be time cheated from their lives.

But I love to write, so it's a real...conundrum.

hi. :)

Thanks very much for the compliments. No, I haven't really stopped writing but I have a lot less time for it these days.

Alas, I don't feel comfortable with finishing anyone's fics. I'm not sure where Califi is with her writing but maybe you can contact her and ask where she's at with it? Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm going to have to say no. But thank you for reading my fic and I appreciate very much that you like them enough let me know. :)
